I’m Meri, an active contributor to GoodDollar Community and a member of the Good Labs team for the past 2 years. One key aspect of my role involves fostering community engagement and encouraging GoodDollar members to take a more active role in contributing to the DAO. For the past 6 months I’ve been working very closely with the GIMT team and, I endorse of the work they’ve been doing. I’m posting this because I believe that extending their Community Grant for another 6 months will benefit the community and allow them to continue the valuable work they’ve been doing.

This GIP is a follow-up to the [GIP-21] Election Grant Community Moderation 2024 that proposes to extend 6 months of additional funding to the current moderation team nominated by the GoodDAO.

The current Community Moderation grant runs from April 2024 to September 2024. The GoodDAO elected the GIMT team through a governance process that included participation from various teams formed by community members. The GIMT team officially began their role in May 2024, following a grace period to ensure a smooth handover from the previous community moderators, who were also elected by GoodDAO in the past. As a result, the current grant is set to end in October 2024.

The Good Labs Foundation donates the funds for this grant, though the nominating process is done by the GoodDAO. The Good Labs Foundation proposes to extend the current funding grant for an additional six months to the GIMT team, based on successful, high quality community moderation, supported by the GIMT team’s monthly reports shared with the GoodDAO and their actions within the Community.

The GIMT team has consistently provided monthly reports to the GoodDAO, detailing their activities and strategies for an effective Community Moderation function (see Discourse monthly reports). To support the extension of the grant, the GIMT team is requested to submit a summary of their activities, the impact they have achieved as community moderators over the past six months, and their future plans in the comments section of this post.

The extension of the grant will adhere to the same details as the previous grant:

  • The total budget allocated for community moderation is 14,400 cUSD for the entire 6 months, to be paid monthly after review of the monthly report. This budget is donated from Good Labs Foundation. For the current GIMT teams as a team of 5 would be 20 hours each, and 480 cUSD each month.
  • The grant extension is to cover 6 month time frame, November 2024 - April 2025
  • The grans scope covers moderation for all global GoodDollar community channels, including content creation and marketing tasks for a minimum coverage of 100 hours per week. Full scope of work and channels here.

The voting on Snapshot will be set up as a basic voting; single choice voting with three choices: For, Against or Abstain.

A new Community Moderation Grant, open for applications from the entire community, will be launched by GoodLabs in April 2025.

Our team is a dynamic group of five professionals from diverse backgrounds, united in our mission to drive the GoodDollar project forward and support its community’s growth. Each member brings a unique set of skills and perspectives to the table, creating a powerful and efficient team dynamic. We are committed to utilizing our collective expertise to make a positive impact on the GoodDollar project and its community.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to all of you for your unwavering support and valuable contributions over the past six months. We hope that you have found our initiatives enriching and engaging, ultimately enhancing your overall community experience. As we approach the next phase of our journey together, we kindly request your votes to continue our efforts in fostering growth and innovation within our community. We are excited to share with you a summary of our accomplishments from the past six months and our vision for the future.

Throughout the past months, our team has developed and implemented numerous impactful initiatives with the primary goal of elevating the community experience. These initiatives span multiple facets of community engagement, including education, support, security, collaboration, and motivation all aimed at fostering a vibrant and inclusive environment for all members. Some of these are;

  • GoodDollar Academy: Published 11 educational modules on digital finance, blockchain, and UBI; having about 312 reads and 842 views.

  • GoodDollar Academy Learn and Earn: Hosted 12 challenge rounds, 500+ participants; incentivizing learning through rewards.

  • Monthly AMA sessions: Hosted 5 sessions, with 20-30 participants ; connecting members with moderators.

  • Community Chat Events: Covered 12 blockchain and crypto topics discussed; promoting engagement and education.

  • Spend with GoodDollar Event: 5 events, 100 participants; encouraging peer-to-peer transactions and utility.

  • Community Stories Challenge: Members share experiences via short videos; raising GoodDollar visibility. Check out some notable contributors include Omar, Godwin, Francis, and Kuchemba among others.

  • Weekly Reports: Updates on achievements, events, and GoodDollar ecosystem developments.

  • GoodNews: Spreading UBI and crypto-related social impact information; fostering understanding and awareness.

  • Security Measures: Established guidelines and rules to ensure a safe, inclusive, and positive community environment.

  • Tutorials and Guides: Resources for seamless navigation within the GoodDollar ecosystem and various platforms.

  • Media Handles and Team Account: Social media presence with 200+ followers on X; promoting GoodDollar and community events.

  • Weekly Analytics: Monitoring community growth, achieving an increase of 3000+ members in our main community, and implementing strategies. Our focus extends beyond community growth to engagement, education, and support.

  • Feedback Form: Encouraging community collaboration and continuous growth through suggestions and insights.

As we look ahead to the next six months, our focus will be centered on refining and enhancing our existing community initiatives, ensuring they cover the entire moderation scope with an emphasis on inclusivity, frequency, and rewards. Below is a summary of our upcoming plans that give a sneak peek into what’s in store for the community and the modifications we are implementing to further elevate the current initiatives;

  • Strengthened Community Support: Resolving issues and providing assistance to ensure a seamless experience for all members.

  • Increased Community Collaboration: Host 2 AMA sessions and Spend with GoodDollar Events every month to encourage interaction, address concerns, and gather feedback for continuous improvement.

I appreciate the work the moderation team has done so far that is, through provide a 24hours communication pertaining our GoodDollar project, engaging members,and helping in solving problems arising just to mention but a few.I believe it’s important to ensure our community feels safe and engaged. I would suggest exploring more proactive communication from the moderators, perhaps through regular updates or Q&A sessions. Additionally, considering more diverse moderation approaches could enhance our inclusivity. Thank you for the opportunity to provide input!

I just want to make a recommendation to the current team of moderators.
In my opinion, the Discourse forum has always been an interesting place for the discussion of Gooddao proposals.
I think that this space deserves a better order. Anyone who comes to the forum can read each written proposal, whether formal or not. However, there is currently no order. It is very difficult because there are publications of all kinds.
We have other options for the content that is being published here, for example: Telegram for frequently asked and not so frequently asked questions, social networks to report news about the protocol/Good Labs, and Notion to publish learning material.

The forum is the ideal place to debate, for that reason my invitation is not to let it lose its purpose. We still have time for it to have a more appropriate use.
This place deserves the most privileged treatment of all. This is where the entire community meets. This is not just another Telegram channel.

As a GoodDollar claimer for the past year, I am excited to join the discussion and express my support for extending the GIMT team community moderation services. This is my first time using Discourse, but I have been following GoodDollar progress closely. I have noticed a significant improvement in the community health and engagement since GIMT joined.

While the price fluctuations are a concern, I believe GIMT team continued efforts to foster a strong and supportive community are crucial to maintaining our hope and building a brighter future for GoodDollar. Their dedication to engagement and positive interaction is invaluable, and I’m confident they can continue to make a positive impact.
